Founder interview: why NOSK.life is free
Sanjeewa Dehiwalage on the decision to publish every course, calculator and template at no cost, and what that means for the people who use them.
15 January 2026 · NOSK.life editorial desk · Interview by NOSK.life editorial desk
Q. Why publish all of it free?
A.Because the people who need it most are the ones least likely to pay for it. A line supervisor in Chittagong or a young technologist in Kurunegala does not have a training budget. If the material sits behind a subscription, it reaches the people who already have access to training and misses everyone else. Free is not a marketing decision, it is the point of the platform.
Q. How do you decide what to publish?
A.It comes from the questions I am actually asked at work. If the same question reaches me three times from three factories, it becomes a guide or a calculator. That is why the material reads like a factory answer rather than a textbook chapter.
Q. There is no login for the study areas. Was that deliberate?
A.Completely deliberate. Asking someone to create an account before they can read a guide is a barrier, and it means collecting personal data I do not need. Progress is kept on the reader's own device. The only parts that need a sign-in are the ones where identity matters — the supplier portal, the buyer sourcing desk and the newsroom.
Q. What do you want a reader to walk away with?
A.One thing they can use on Monday morning. Not a certificate, not a theory — a measurement they can take, a check they can add, a cost they can calculate properly.
