8,400 pieces, level II, AQL 2.5 major

The plan sheet returns a sample of 200 pieces with an acceptance number of 10 majors. The tally sheet records 7 majors and 2 criticals — and because criticals carry a zero acceptance number, the lot is rejected on the critical count alone, not on the major total.

Defects clustered in three cartons

The carton log shows 11 of 14 stitching defects came from cartons packed in the same two hours. The disposition worksheet records a partial re-inspection of that packing window instead of a blanket rejection of the shipment.

Partially packed lot

Only 62 percent of the order is packed on the inspection date. The briefing sheet's partial-presentation clause is applied: the report is marked limited coverage and a second inspection date is agreed in writing.

Define the lot before you open a carton

Fill the header of the tally sheet with purchase order, style, colour, destination and the exact carton count offered. A sampling decision is only valid for the population it was drawn from, so the lot definition has to be fixed before sampling begins.

Sample by procedure, not by convenience

Use the carton selection log to record which cartons were drawn and in what order. Clustering of defects by carton is the fastest signal that a problem is line-specific rather than systemic.

Record the disposition and the reasoning

The worksheet forces a written reason for every accept or reject decision. That single habit removes most inspection disputes because the buyer can see how the number was reached.

Review the switching tracker monthly

The tracker keeps a rolling record of the last ten lots per supplier so tightened and reduced inspection are triggered by the data rather than by memory. Reviewing it once a month is usually enough to reallocate a meaningful share of inspection hours.

Common questions

Which AQL levels does the toolkit cover?

The sheets carry the commonly used apparel combinations — 0 critical, 2.5 major and 4.0 minor — and can be edited for stricter buyer requirements.

Do I need special software?

No. The pack is spreadsheet-based and prints cleanly, so it works on a laptop or on paper at the inspection table.

Does it handle double sampling plans?

Yes. The plan sheet includes the double sampling option for buyers who allow a second sample before a final disposition.

Can it be used for inline inspections too?

The tally and measurement sheets work inline as well; the sampling plan tab is specific to final random inspection of a defined lot.
